About Jen

PE Teacher. Chiefs Superfan. Wig Enthusiast.

Making movement feel like freedom at Santa Fe Trail Elementary in Overland Park, Kansas - where every day is game day and every kid is an MVP.

From the Sidelines to the Gym Floor

I knew early on that I wanted to make an impact. My career started in athletic training - working the sidelines at St. Thomas Aquinas, Pittsburg State, and NC State. I got to see firsthand how sports could transform lives, build confidence, and create community.

Then came the big leagues - literally. I worked with the Charlotte Bobcats, the St. Louis Blues, and eventually landed my dream job with the Kansas City Royals. Those years in professional sports taught me everything about energy, teamwork, and showing up when it matters.

It was at the Royals where I met my husband, Bob Fescoe - you might know him from 96.5 The Fan. Let's just say we're a sports family through and through. Royals games, Chiefs Sundays, and plenty of sports radio debates at the dinner table.

"The best coaches don't just teach plays - they teach life."

But here's the thing - as much as I loved pro sports, I kept being pulled toward education. Toward kids. Toward being the kind of adult I wished I had in my corner growing up. So I made the leap to teaching PE, and I've never looked back.

Today, I teach Physical Education at Santa Fe Trail Elementary in Overland Park. My classes aren't your typical "run laps and do push-ups" situation. We dance (hip hop one year, line dancing the next). We play. We celebrate every single win. And yes - I change up my hair as often as I change up the activities.

When I started wearing wigs, I wasn't sure how the kids would react. Turns out? They think it's the coolest thing ever. Now it's become part of who I am - a reminder that being authentically yourself is always the right move.
