My Trich Story

Let me tell you something I don't always share - I have trichotillomania. It's a condition that causes the urge to pull out your own hair. For years, I struggled with it in silence, feeling like something was wrong with me.

Trich affects millions of people, yet so few talk about it openly. I spent so much energy hiding, covering up, making excuses. Sound familiar? If you're reading this and nodding along, I want you to know: you are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with you.

When I discovered wigs, everything changed. Not because they "fixed" anything - I don't need fixing. But because they gave me options. They gave me creativity. They gave me back the confidence to show up fully as myself without spending mental energy on coverage and concealment.

Now? I change my hair like I change my mood. Red one day, blonde the next. Long, short, curly, straight. My students at Santa Fe Trail Elementary think it's the coolest thing ever. And honestly? So do I.

What is Trichotillomania?

Trichotillomania (trich) is a body-focused repetitive behavior where a person feels compelled to pull out their hair. It affects 1-2% of the population and is not about vanity or weakness - it's a real condition that many people manage every day.
